Yesterday you had in hand two hardnesses
(I know – I put them there)
both from and of Earth
(I know – I found them there)
both found flotsom in the foam.
One from deep in our center
once liquid hot as Sun
Cooled from frothy light
Cooled once more into solid and light,
When ground becomes ground,
when rubbed can grind.
The other hard as that rock,
rubbery tough, filled with life.
When meshed with the first ground
rebounds into growth of yet unknown.
And so we celebrate two selves of Earth
and our deepest selves who are Earth,
and we pass our symbols from and to
reality and among ourselves.
